£849With a combined weight of just 630g, these two ultra-compact crop-sensor optics are a portable, versatile and high performance pairing that will cover all bases in virtually any day-to-day shooting situation. The 18-50mm F2.8 (27-75mm equivalent) is a classic standard zoom that is ideal for landscape, portrait, pet, street and event photography, and thanks to its maximum magnification ratio of 1:2.8 it also has excellent close-up ability for macro-style shooting. Its constant F2.8 aperture ensures a shallow depth-of-field, and optically the lens delivers outstanding results across the whole focal range.
The 23mm F1.4 (35mm equivalent) is arguably the most useful single focal length, and the F1.4 aperture allows for very blurry background and very fast shutter speeds in low light – ideal if you’re not working from a tripod.
This twin-lens kit is available for L-Mount, Sony E-mount and FUJIFILM X Mount cameras and is an excellent upgrade to a standard kit lens.
Included with this kit is a SIGMA Protector filter for each lens (52mm and 55mm), which will help keep the front elements safe from damage, whatever type of photography you’re doing. The filters are made by SIGMA in Japan from the very highest quality glass with no colour cast, ensuring that the quality of the image remains extremely high. The glass incorporates SIGMA’s Super Multi-Layer Coating that effectively reduces flare and ghosting, and the black-rimmed glass further increases performance by eliminating unnecessary internal reflections.
Please note that the kit box illustration above is for illustrative purposes only. The components will be shipping in their original lens boxes.
Collectively weighing just 630g, the 18-50mm F2.8 and 23mm F1.4 make an exceptionally portable twin-lens kit that can be carried around all day without weighing you down. Both lenses are some of the smallest and lightest of their type ever built for mirrorless cameras.Â
The outer barrel of both lenses is made from a strong and light polymer called TSC, which has a similar thermal expansion rate to the interior aluminium parts, ensuring a very consistent performance in all conditions. The lenses are beautifully constructed with a premium finish, and both have ultra-light but extremely strong petal-type lens hoods to control flare and ghosting. Both lenses have dust- and splash-resistant seals around the mount, and water- and oil-repellant coatings on the front element to keep the glass clear of contaminants.Â

Small but perfectly formed, the 18-50mm F2.8 is the ultimate portable standard zoom for crop-sensor mirrorless cameras. With an equivalent focal length of 27-75mm on an APS-C camera and a fast F2.8 aperture the lens can be used for almost any type of photography, making it a Swiss Army knife of optics. It can also be used for macro-style photography owing to its impressive maximum magnification ratio of 1:2.8.Â
Autofocus is exceptionally fast and quiet thanks to the lens’ stepping motor, which can be particularly useful for shooting video or for capturing fast-moving subjects.
Weighing less than 300g, the 18-50mm is easily portable enough to be carried around for casual day-to-day shooting, but thanks to its outstanding optics, fast AF and wide aperture, it is more than capable of delivering professional-quality results.
Designed for crop sensor mirrorless cameras, the 23mm has an equivalent focal length of 35mm, making it a versatile wide-standard prime that is well suited to street photography, travel, landscapes, wider-angle portraits and weddings. Its F1.4 aperture ensures fast shutter speeds for working hand-held in low-light conditions, and also provides a very shallow depth-of-field for blurry backgrounds.
Despite its very fast aperture the lens weighs only 340g, so it’s easily light enough to carry around all day, and the build is sleek yet robust. Optical performance is exceptional, with very sharp results across the whole frame at all aperture settings. The lens pairs perfectly with the other DC DN primes, which also have F1.4 apertures.
This two-lens kit includes a 52mm and a 55mm Protector filter for each lens to ensure they are fully protected from damage out in the field. The super multi-later coating effectively minimises flare and ghosting to ensure images high contrast and excellent colour saturation.
These filters are made in the SIGMA factory in Japan alongside all SIGMA lenses, so you can be sure that they are of the highest optical quality.
All Sigma cameras and lenses are designed, manufactured and assembled at our sole factory at Aizu in Japan. This domestic production model is unusual in today’s industry, with most imaging companies opting to outsource to other countries to reduce costs. But SIGMA believes that keeping virtually all manufacturing, processing and assembly in Aizu is essential for creating innovative, carefully thought-out and impeccably constructed products that meet the high standards demanded by professional photographers and film-makers around the world.
Sigma chose Aizu as its main production base in the early 1970s. Situated at the base of Mount Bandai in the Fukushima Prefecture, about four hours’ drive north of Tokyo, Aizu has an abundance of very clean water from mountain streams, which is essential for grinding and polishing lenses. Sigma’s founder, Michihiro Yamaki, was also drawn to this area for its workforce, who have a reputation for their craftsmanship, work ethic and attention to detail. Mr Yamaki’s son, Kazuto Yamaki, now the owner and CEO of SIGMA Corporation, has the same unwavering commitment to keeping production in Japan.
Today Sigma’s factory is more than 50,000 square feet in size, and packed full of some of the most advanced optical manufacturing technology in existence. So when you buy a Sigma camera or lens you can be sure that virtually every single component part has been manufactured and assembled by SIGMA, in Japan, with the greatest level of care and attention. We hope you enjoy using our products.
