If you have a passion for wildlife and/or macro photography, this small-group SIGMA Masterclass is an absolute must-do. The workshop focuses on capturing close-ups of butterflies, orchids and a variety different of plants and animals around the reserve, under the guidance of professional nature photographer Victoria Hillman.
You’ll learn how to create impactful and technically precise nature images and find out how to get the best out of a macro (or macro-style) lens. The session will cover focusing methods, using aperture to control depth-of-field, using natural and artificial light for different effects, how to achieve pin-sharp results, multiple exposure, and composition.

Camera, lenses (ideally a macro lens) and tripod if you have one. A representative from SIGMA will be there on the day with a selection of macro lenses, so if you don’t own one you’re very welcome to borrow one for the session. Please send us an email if there is a lens that you’d like to try so that we can make sure we have it on the day.Â
Please bring outdoor clothing – waterproofs, fleeces, outdoor and indoor shoes, etc. It can be very chilly at that time in the morning and very wet!
Please bring lunch/snacks/drink – these are not provided.
Victoria Hillman specialises in macro photography, focusing on smaller species, and has been on the judging panels for both Bird Photographer Of The Year (BPOTY) and British Wildlife Photography Awards (BWPA) and is a judge on WildArt POTY. She has contributed stills, video and articles to magazines, books and TV series including National Geographic and The BBC.
Owing to rugged terrain this workshop may not be suitable for wheel chair users or those of limited mobility. We will always try to accommodate people so please get in touch if you have questions regarding any requirements you may have.

No. Please bring whatever camera and lens system you are using, there is no obligation to use our kit however a range of Sigma optics will be available for you try to out if you wish.
Some basic knowledge of photography will be useful, however photographers of all skill levels are welcome on the workshop.
The minimum age to attend this workshop is 16.
We would always try to accommodate cancellations and refunds where possible. Depending on the type of workshop offered, we may not be able to issue a refund if the number of participants is reduced so that the workshop can not proceed.
