SIGMA Creator

“Something magical happens when I create images with Sigma lenses”.

Michaela is a Scottish photographer of people and place who runs her creative photography and printing practice from her studio in north east England.

She started her Sigma journey twelve years ago with the 35mm f1.4 DG HSM and 50mm f1.4 DG HSM Art both Canon mount, switching to Sony mirrorless around eight years ago. Her current favourite, for its prime-like optical performance, is the 28-45mm f1.8 DG DN Art for Sony E.

An active member of the Royal Photographic Society she also sits on the judging panel for SheClicks – a worldwide photography community with over 16,000 members. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally with collectors in the UK, US and New Zealand; her commercial work is licensed by Getty Images worldwide.

Career highlights include winning the BIPP Press & PR photographer of the year in 2015, being shortlisted for Sigma Art Photographer of Year in 2024 and having three of her botanical images shown in the Julia Margaret Cameron exhibition at FotoNostrum, Barcelona this summer. However, she believes that more importantly photography has enabled her to work with, create for and be inspired by so many talented people from all walks of life in some beautiful locations.

Michaela is passionate about collaborating with other creatives, particularly musicians and other artists, as well as teaching, mentoring and inspiring others on their own photographic journey.
