Sigma CP+2016 Product Introductions

The Sigma Corporation is pleased to announce the following new products will be shown during the CP+ 2016 Camera & Photo Imaging Show at the Pacifico Yokohama Exhibition Hall, Japan from the 25th to 28th February:

SIGMA 30mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary – Combining outstanding optical performance and compact design: introducing a new F1.4 standard lens for mirrorless cameras.  SIGMA 30mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary large-aperture standard lens gives owners of mirrorless cameras the opportunity to experience the fun of shooting wide open, with F1.4 brightness. Photographers will enjoy the beautiful bokeh effect that only a large-aperture lens can offer and the exceptionally sharp optical performance expected from a fine prime lens. Leveraging SIGMA’s latest technologies and design insights, this new lens fulfils the concept of the Contemporary line, in which varied elements come together in optimal balance. Launch: Micro Four Thirds and Sony E-mount in March.

SIGMA 50-100mm F1.8DC HSM | Art   –  A mid-tele zoom lens that delivers prime lens-level image quality with a large F1.8 aperture throughout the zoom range. SIGMA was determined to create a zoom lens that offers the same brightness and resolution as a fixed focal length lens: in other words, the highest level of optical performance and expressive power. The first result of this challenge was the SIGMA 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM | Art. In addition to fulfilling the exacting requirements of SIGMA’s Art line, this lens was the world’s first APS-C zoom for DSLRs to offer a constant F1.8 aperture value throughout the zoom range. Building on this concept, SIGMA has developed the new SIGMA 50-100mm F1.8 DC HSM | Art lens, a large-diameter mid-range telephoto zoom lens. While offering even greater brightness than a F2.8 telephoto zoom, this lens covers the focal lengths of three prime lenses in one package: 85mm F1.8, 105mm F1.8, and 135 mm F1.8 (35mm equivalent). A true game-changer, this lens is ideal for portraits with subtle bokeh effects and more, and it sets a new standard for zoom lens image quality.  Launch TBD, Sigma, Canon and Nikon fit.

SIGMA sd Quattro / SIGMA sd Quattro H  – The SIGMA Corporation is pleased to announce the SIGMA sd Quattro and SIGMA sd Quattro H, two new high-image-quality digital cameras that incorporate the Foveon X3 direct image sensor (generation name: “Quattro”).

Building on the concept of the SIGMA SD1 Merrill, the SIGMA sd Quattro and SIGMA sd Quattro H feature a mirrorless structure and use interchangeable lenses. The two new cameras are as compact and lightweight as cameras in the SIGMA dp Quattro series and offer the same level of outstanding image quality. Featuring the SIGMA SA mount, the two new cameras are compatible with all of the SIGMA GLOBAL VISION lenses in the Contemporary, Art and Sports lines, and they are designed to take full advantage of these lenses’ superb optical performance.
The SIGMA sd Quattro features an APS-C size sensor and offers medium-format image quality with 39 megapixels. The SIGMA sd Quattro H features an APS-H size sensor measuring 26.6 x 17.9mm. This new, larger Foveon sensor delivers high resolution of 51 megapixels, for even more detailed expressive power.  Release date and price: TBD

SIGMA MOUNT CONVERTER MC-11 – allows you to use your SIGMA SA mount and SIGMA EOS mount interchangeable lenses with the Sony E-mount camera body. Until now, the market has seen the introduction of many methods for using lenses from one camera system with a body from a different system. In the digital age, however, camera systems have become much more complex, and it is challenging to create a mount converter that aligns both the mechanics and software of the lens and body. Creating a converter that matches lenses for current DSLRs to bodies for mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera systems is even more challenging. Now the market demands a converter that goes beyond simply aligning the flange back distance to retaining full functionality. Release date: TBD,  corresponding AF mounts: Canon EF-E, SIGMA SA-E
