From the Press Release dated 10th February 1986 – for the MF version:
“The world’s shortest Apochromatic High-Speed Telephoto lens. One-Touch zoom, Helical focusing, which has an advantage for using polarizing filter. The lens will supply together with Achromatic Macro Lens for High Quality close-up photography.”
The AF version appears to have been released for Minolta AF and weighed slightly more, as well as costing a little extra.
