The Sigma founder, Michihiro Yamaki, is awarded the prestigious Golden Photokina Pin for his services to photography.
Mr Kuhrt said in his presentation speech “I’m sure we all agree that you in particular deserve to receive this award, in view of your position as one of the pioneers of the Japanese imaging industry. You worked in the optical industry even while you were still a student, and you have continued to do so ever since. In 1961, when you were just 28, you founded what is today known as the SIGMA Corporation, and over the years you have made it one of the world’s most successful imaging companies. SIGMA is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, and that’s why I would also like to express my sincere congratulations to you, Mr. Yamaki. You can be proud of the fact that SIGMA lenses are considered among the best in the world today. It’s clear that a man who has shown such unfailing loyalty to the imaging sector and has actively contributed to its success over time must be driven by an enormous passion for the subject.”
Michihiro Yamaki continues to pioneer and develop new products for the Sigma Corporation meeting the needs of discerning photographers throughout the world.
