Matthew Maddock, based in the North West of England is a photographer that writes about the things he likes and prefers small compact cameras. As the owner of  PhotoMadd, an online camera and accessory store specialising in compact and mirrorless cameras, he rarely uses a dSLR anymore.  Sigma Imaging UK (Ltd.) invited Matthew to test & evaluate the latest Sigma dp Quattro camera models and share with us his first impressions. This is what Matthew had to say:
I am a commercial photographer from the Lake District.  Despite living in a beautiful area, I actually do very little landscape photography.  My favourite is travel and on-location fashion.  I picked up a camera at a young age and have always loved photography, but became busy with work for a long spell, only getting back into taking photography seriously about 4 years ago.  Since then I’ve been through a wide range of cameras, from the traditional dSLR, digital medium format, mirrorless to compact cameras and anything in between!  These days I prefer to travel light, but still want to be able to produce good quality images.  The Sigma dp Quattro range gives me exactly that.  The image quality and resolution these cameras produce is truly incredible; as close as I’ve ever seen to medium format, but in a considerably more portable and affordable device.  Image quality aside, one of my favourite features of the dp Quattro range is the leaf shutter.  This allows me to synchronise my off-camera flash up to 1/1000th of a second very easily, giving me much more control over ambient light and the ability to overpower the sun with even a single speedlight, making for a very light on-location setup.
The images from Morocco were captured with the wide-angle dp0 Quattro, which gives a great perspective and in the tight streets of the medina it means I can get much more in.  The incredibly rich colour rendition from the Foveon sensor match the naturally vibrant streets and markets of Morocco perfectly.
