Paul Monaghan is a self-taught photographer from Scotland and owner of “The Kirky Studio” just outside of Glasgow.  Over the years photography has not only helped him document the life of his four children, it’s also lead him to work on some amazing projects, make friends all over the world and given him the tools he needs to bring his ideas to life.

Paul’s creative style compliments his accurate and technical approaches to producing innovative images.  A fan of the Sigma Foveon technology, Paul has had the experience of working with most of Sigma’s latest digital cameras. He uses the Sigma DP1 Merrill for creative/location stuff at wider angles, the Sigma DP3 Merrill for studio work and has recently written a hands-on evaluation article of the Sigma dp2 Quattro for the SLR Lounge. His in-depth analyses and understanding of the Foveon technology enable him to produce powerful images full of detail. Paul recently had a play with the Sigma SD1 Merrill and Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM lens and with the Sigma EF-610 DG ST flashgun to produce the below series of images which resulted in a spot in Sigma’s latest sale promotion.
